Romans 1:18-20 KJV
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
This is basically saying that when it comes to not believing in God.. those that don’t are without excuse because the existence of a Creator is manifestly obvious by looking at the world around them.
That was written almost 2000 years ago, and by now we have Science that has helped us learn the incredible intricacies of how things, plants, animals, planets, solar systems… etc are put together and how they interact.
And though many now say that there is no need to resort to a belief in God, that we have a Big Bang and Evolution… when you look at the complexities of things, and the proposed mechanisms, it can only leave you dissatisfied. Ultimately the Big Bang is something that “just happened”… creating matter and energy from nothing without a cause. And Evolution worked over long eons randomly mutating things, selecting the good mutations and somehow resulting in amazing complexity in organisms. Full of symbiotic relationships between organisms, and even on a planetary scale..
But there are problems at the deepest levels of these natural explanations… Where we might be able to explain what happens to matter and energy as it expands… I don’t see any explanation as to where matter and energy came from to begin with… We can apply the physical laws that we have learned to understand how a big bang unfolds… but can we explain where the physical laws themselves came from? In a reasonless universe, how is it there is any uniformity, repeatability?
Where we might wave hands and say look, chemicals in a primordial soup can form spontaneously into molecules… how much hand waving can we do to say that the first cell also spontaneously generated its own DNA, which contains essentially a computer program for the construction of the cell itself? See? or the other way.. How is it that a program came together spontaneously, encoded as a molecule, in order to construct the first cell?
And as we sit here contemplating the universe… how it’s put together, how things interact, and learning of it… How is it that the universe is even comprehensible to us? In other words.. How is it that there is any order at all in a random universe, and how is it that random mutations came together to understand that order?
No. Even now… creation does declare the glory of God… It’s hopeless to deny a Creator.
