We need to know God’s Name…

I was told that no one knows what is written within this recent painting of mine…  The problem is most churches don’t teach the basics….

It’s a circular rainbow, within which is written,

“יהוה”

Which is God’s name, pronounced as “Yehovah”.  The rainbow is God’s symbol of his covenant made with Noah.

If you read the Bible… it turns out that name is the most frequent word written in the Old Testament.

Again and again… we are told in the Bible to know his name, to call on his name, to swear by his name etc..

But what has happened is that his name has been stricken from almost every English translation of the Bible.   Instead of his name they write “The LORD”…   Which is a title.

His name is Yehovah… and almost no one teaches it… Many people don’t even know the Old Testament was written in Hebrew.  And in this way among others we are separated from our creator.

Here is an example:

1 Chronicles 16:8King James Version (KJV)

Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

It is saying to give thanks to and call on the name of God…     But what’s the name?   You won’t know it by reading the King James version, nor most other English versions.

Here it is in Hebrew:

8הוֹד֤וּ לַֽיהוָה֙ קִרְא֣וּ בִשְׁמ֔וֹ הוֹדִ֥יעוּ בָעַמִּ֖ים עֲלִילֹתָֽיו׃

Westminster Leningrad Codex. The Hebrew Tanak: Hebrew Bible Edition (Kindle Locations 49244-49245). . Kindle Edition.

I’ve highlighted his name “Yehovah”

The verse would be better translated as: “Give thanks unto Yehovah, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people”.

Now it makes sense.

We should do as Yehovah has asked us…   know his name, and call on it.
